Angola Man admits to a failure that killed the child News, sport, work

Angola a man pleaded guilty for murder after he got involved in an accident that took the child’s life.

According to the District Prosecutor’s Office, Erie, 53-year-old Markus R. Genovese from Angola pleaded guilty before the judge of the Court of Court Erie James Bargnesi to murder the second degree, murder of a second degree vehicle and one of the abandonment of the scene of the incident caused by death.

The accused pleaded guilty for the highest sustainable allegations.

On June 8, 2024, around 20:10, the accused rode a pickup north on the Shore Road Lake (route 5) in the city of Hamburg, when he caused a collision with another vehicle. The accused rode under the influence of alcohol or drugs without a valid license when he broke his vehicle in the back of the SUV of the victim, which was stopped at the intersection to turn on the left to Eckhardt Road.

After the accident, the accused abandoned his vehicle and escaped from the incident. Shortly afterwards he was in a nearby forest, responding to officers and transported by ambulance to the Erie Medical Center.

Two children were in a vehicle of an adult victim. One child passenger, an 8-year-old boy who was sitting in the rear seat on the driver’s side, was fatally injured. The second children’s passenger, a 4-year-old boy, who also sat in the back seat on the passenger side, was taken by ambulance to the children’s hospital Oishei, where he was treated because of injuries and released.

Genovese faces a maximum of 15 years in prison, when he is convicted on May 12 at 9:30, he remains kept without a deposit.

The case was prosecuted by assistants of District prosecutors Christopher M. McCarthy and Natasha G. Greenan from the Vehicle Crime Office.
