Cincinnati Reds Send Rule 5 Select back to athletics

The Rule 5 project is one of the most fascinating schedule elements out of season, because the nuance is quite interesting. In December last year, Cincinnati Reds took a leaflet on Cooper Bowman, a versatile defender, who took 12 Homers last season and moved 43 base, mainly in Double.

This spring, from The Reds Bowman went only 3 out of 25 (.120) with four walks, increasing OBP to 0.267. Although he did not get much to the base, he still managed to steal three bases in three attempts. All his hits were single.

Due to the lack of cincinnati production, they sent him back to Athleticswhich is another wrinkle for the Rule 5 project. The player must stick to the 26-person selection team (The Reds in this case) 26, otherwise he is to be offered back to his former club. The team was almost always restoring the player when it will happen.

Bowman has now returned from A, where it can be an interesting depth option for the club, which enters its 25th season. It was originally acquired by A from New York Yankees in the Frankie Montas/Lou Trivino agreement, going to green and gold with Ken Waldichuk, Luis Medina and JP Sears.

All three broods have already debuted in A’s, although Medina is to miss most of the 2025 campaigns, and Waldichuk is available to about the season.

Bowman worked around the organizational ladder in his time in System A, ultimately reaching Triple-a Las Vegas for the first time in 2024. Ultimately, it only hit .218 with a base.

After spending most of the time, playing in the second base in juvenile two previous seasons, Bowman saw most of the time on the pitch in the center in Las Vegas. According to those we talked to in Oakland, he played well in position and certainly has athleticism to become an ordinary place if necessary.

He was there mainly last season due to the lack of flexibility of the schedule and not many real options of the central field in the team. It was a kind of script “Let’s see what is going on”. Nick Allen and the first base Ryan Noda also received a short look at the position for pilots.

Bowman has long been an intriguing perspective to keep an eye on its power and speed combination. Now, when he returned to organization A, we will have to see how he used after the club left him unsecured to the project Rule 5.
