The jury said that the meeting of Redditch councilor with a woman was “completely consistent”

Roouse defense lawyer, Andy Western KC, said the jury that “evidence is not arranged” and “there was nothing that suggests that he did something criminal.”

He said the accused was guilty of adultery, but not rape.

“The evidence does not confirm the allegation that (victim) was raped,” he said.

Rouse allegedly raped a woman in the bedroom on the first floor before he went downstairs and told his friend: “Guess where I was?”

But Mr. Western told the jury that his client was not trying to hide his actions.

“He hardly tried to keep it secret that he was upstairs,” he said.

He said that the couple did not even know each other particularly well, and the claim that she was raped was a shock to Mr. Rouse.

Judge Campbell, to sum up, read the lines of the councilor’s evidence in which he stated: “I did not attack (victim) and did not rape her.”

Mr. Rouse was suspended in a conservative party at his own request after the accusation and is currently independent.
