Man dies after saving ice in Livingston; wounded fireman

Livingston County, Mich. – The man died after the ice saving surgery over Lake Chemung in Livingston.

The incident took place at 14:10 on Wednesday (March 12), when the man was swimming with the wind before falling through the ice.

The police said that the rescue operation faced serious challenges because of the thawing of ice from warm weather, which makes it difficult for rescuers to reach a man.

The US coastal guard pulled a man out of frozen water. After landing, he was transferred to Livingston County EMS, where CPR was made.

Despite the efforts of the emergency team, the man was recognized as deceased at the scene of the incident.

During the rescue, the fireman was wounded, which took about 95 minutes. The fireman was treated and released.

The victim’s identity was not released, but officials said that the man was 300-400 yards from the coast.
