A man who saved Rishabha Pant’s life, takes poison with a girl, dies

Muzaffarnagar:

Rajat Kumar, a 25-year-old man who saved the life of Indian cricke player Rishabha Pant after a car accident in 2022, tried suicide with his girlfriend, consuming poison. The incident took place in Buchh Basti, a village in the Muzaffonarnar Uttar Pradesh district on February 9.

Mr. Kumar and his 21-year-old girl, Manu Kashyap, allegedly consumed the poison after their families opposed their relationship. While Mrs. Kashyap died during treatment, Mr. Kumar remains in a critical condition, fighting for her life in the hospital.

Their families organized their marriages elsewhere, refusing to accept their relationship due to caste differences. This rejection allegedly led them to suicide. After the death of Mrs. Kashyap, her mother claimed that Mr. Kumar kidnapped her daughter and poisoned her.

Mr. Kumar drew attention to the national attention in December 2022, when, together with another local resident, Nishu Kumar, he saved the Indian Krykiecist Rishabh regarding a car accident. Mr. Pant went from Delhi to Uttarakhand when his Mercedes hit the divider and caught fire near Roorkee.

Two young men, working at a nearby factory, saw an accident and threw himself at help. They pulled the pant from a burning vehicle and organized for emergency medical assistance. Their quick action was widely praised and in recognition of their courage PANT gave them scooters as a sign of recognition. Mr. Pant made an extraordinary recovery and returned to the cricket the following year.
