The German national team Tobias Eder dies at the age of 26 after the diagnosis of cancer

Berlin (AP) – Tobias Eder, who played in the German national hockey team at last year’s world championships, died after cancer treatment, his club said on Wednesday. He was 26 years old.

The Eisbaeren Berlin club said that Eder, which was diagnosed with a malicious tumor in August, “underwent cancer complications.”

“We are shocked, deeply saddened and stunned,” the club published on Instagram. “Unfortunately, Tobi did not win his most difficult fight. You can’t find the right words now. “

Edmonton Oilers, forward Leon Draisaitl, published a photo of Eder on his Instagram account with the message: “Rest in Peace, Toni”.

Eder played three matches for Germany at last year’s World Championships, scoring one goal against Slovakia in winning 6-4.

“We remember many funny, beautiful and unique moments that we could experience with Tobi and say goodbye to great gratitude for the time spent together,” said the German Hockey Federation in a statement.

“At the same time, our thoughts are with his family, his fiancée, friends and members of the team, who of course have full support in these difficult days.”
