Scott Bessent swore as the secretary of the treasury

Washington (DPA -afx) – Scott Bessent was sworn in as a new secretary of the United States Treasury by the Supreme Court judge Brett M. Kavanaugh.

In the key position in Trump’s administration, the secretary of the treasury is the president’s main adviser in all matters related to economic and fiscal policy.

Bessent has been involved in the global investment management business for 40 years, visiting 60 countries, interacting with international leaders and central bankers. He is considered a currency specialist and permanent income. Bessent often contributes to economic magazines and business publications.

Earlier, Bessent was the general director and investment director Key Square Capital Management, a global hedge fund, which focuses on the Makro investment, which he founded in 2015. Earlier Bessent was the investment director of Soros Fund Management. He was also an adjunct at the University of Yale, where he taught economic history. In the years 1991–2000 he was a managing partner at the Soros Fund Management in London.

A long -time lawyer and mentor of financial knowledge programs and educational programs, Bessent replaces the outgoing secretary of the Treasury Department Janet Yellen.
