Maha kumbh stampede: 30 dead, 60 wounded, say police

Officials say that at least 30 people were killed and 60 others were injured in Stampede, who broke out at Maha Kumbh Mela.

The Pokroczek before dawn in the Sangam Maha Kumbh area exploded when millions of pilgrims suffered from space to immerse themselves in the occasion of Maunia Amavasya, considered one of the most successful days during Meli.

Deputy General Inspector (DIG) Police Vaibhav Krishna said here at a press conference that Stampede left 30 dead and 60 others were injured.

“The incident took place between 1-2 am because of the pressure of the crowd. Crowds broke the barricades and jumped to the other side, crushing there. Over 90 wounds were taken to hospital, of which 30 died – he said.

The officer said that 25 dead were identified.

Of the wounded 36 are treated in the hospital, and the rest were sent with families.
