FEMA usually includes 75% of disaster expenses, leaving local jurisdictions responsible for the remaining 25%. However, the presidential declaration by Biden administration allowed FEMA to cover 100% of costs if the removal of debris begins within 180 days of the city’s emergency declaration.

Bass told this newspaper at a press conference that he does not expect that the conditions of this federal assistance change under the Trump administration.

“FEMA will cover 100% for the first 180 days,” said Bass. “It was something that President Biden created. President Trump did not give us any tips that it would be something else. “
