Lawyer plans to sue bus company for Chili crash victims; says the same company that was involved in a similar disaster in January

Chili bus company sued after accident’; the lawyer says the failure is very similar to a previous failure involving the same company

CHILI, N.Y. — There was a bus accident in Chili on Thursday as a result of which 28 people were injured – one of whom died — mimics another recent disaster involving the same company, FlixBus. In January, the company suffered another fatal accident in Lake George, north of Albany.

Edward Jazłowiecki, an attorney at Jazlowiecki and Jazlowiecki LLC, says he and three other attorneys represent all 16 bus passengers who were on the bus during the Lake George crash, including the one person who died.

The driver involved in a crash in Lake George has been issued four tickets for driving while fatigued, not wearing a seat belt, unsafe lane changing and unreasonable speed.

“The bus goes off the road, comes back, falls on its side – mirror image – we know this guy fell asleep,” Jazłowiecki said.

The driver involved in Thursday’s bus crash on I-490 received the same four tickets. Jazłowiecki received a call about the accident on Thursday morning.

“I said, ‘What are the facts?’ They said, “Very similar to the one we did in Lake George.” I couldn’t believe it,” he said.

Jazłowiecki plans to represent people in the Chili bus accident and says he will file a lawsuit in Texas, as he did in the ongoing lawsuit over FlixBus’ January accident in Lake George, because FlixBus North America is headquartered in Dallas.

When asked how Texas tort laws affect compensation for victims, Jazłowiecki replied: “First of all, the accident occurred in New York, so New York law will apply, not Texas law.”

“Flix is very, let’s just say they know what they’re doing – they limit their liability by limiting the companies they work with. and the companies they work with are small family businesses – they usually have four or five buses – and their scope is limited to $5 million per bus, which is ridiculous,” Jazłowiecki said.

As for the victims of the Chili crash, one passenger is dead, four others are under protection at Strong Memorial Hospital as of Friday evening, and the rest are expected to recover.
