Breaking news in Germany: Man arrested after car shown ‘driving at high speed’ into crowd at Christmas market in Magdeburg | World news

We received reports that a car had crashed into a group of people at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, eastern Germany.

The German news agency dpa reports that the driver has been arrested.

Police reported in October that extensive activities took place at the Christmas market in Magdeburg.

The town center market has been closed, with police adding that further reports will be made soon.

Magdeburg, located west of Berlin, is the capital of the state of Saxony-Anhalt and has a population of approximately 240,000.
